Day 12

Today I come to the office as always, talk and present my work. I edited my work beforehand as well, and pre select several pictures and the cover picture. After that I wrote short essay / story about the series, in Indonesian because this is only for the national-wide content.

Day 11 - Sunday Shoot

Gambar
So I started the day with checking up my equipments, making sure everything's ready. We are agreed to meet at 3pm local time, and ended up pretty late at night. I'm doing a photo essay about Gaming Console and Arcade collector. I arrived 30 minutes early, and settle up, ended up talking to him, also interviewed and took pictures

Day 10

I got the interviewee, and we are deciding to take pictures on this Sunday, so that would be day 11 for me. Also we are having lenses demo today, mostly just run through on lenses that VICE use a lot. The rest of the day is pretty chill and we are bond to get know each other more.

Day 9

Today we are deciding the subjects and contacting our interviewee. I gather infos and preparing for my assignment. We ran through everything that I need to do during my assignment. Meanwhile I also help with the paper edit

Day 8

Gambar
Today we are going through camera and workflow workshop, especially for media team that would be involved a lot with gears and video making. All the equipments are Sony brand, so my Sony A7ii is actually a perfect gear.

Day 7

Gambar
These are the photos of our working space. Which is pretty relaxing and embracing creativity. Today I'm working on paper edit, which is a really important part for documentary sequencing. Also I had a meeting with the content creator team to get a photo essay assignment going.

Day 6

Gambar
Another busy Monday, I was introduced to some edits that needs to be done for VICE Indonesia. Here, we also translating VICE International's contents and publish it national wide - the market here is towards the Indonesians. I'm using my 2014 Premier Pro so I couldn't work as fast as other people with the recent version of the software. But definitely I learned a lot.

Day 5

Gambar
I'm wrapping up the edit on Debt Father and ran through everything once more before it goes to the final edit. It was quite an experience for me to be able to have my hands on VICE contents, this series later on will be submitted to VICE International, and if they are interested, they will release it world wide

Day 4

After completing the transcript session yesterday, I finally hit the ground base of VICE editing process! I learned how to put subtitles and see the sequencing of the footage: cuts and rhythm. I'm working on the Debt Fathers video, which I need to provide subtitles for the whole 33 minutes video, since most of the conversations and interview are in Indonesian. The room is pretty great, with one of the best computer available. I also see how VICE edit their video and the video making / style.

Day 3

I finished around 1hr worth of transcript this day. Haven't get anything to shoot yet, but it's coming soon! By doing transcript I learned how to actually do interviews and trying to understand the interviewee. Also we were discussing about potential theme and work frame that VICE will offer in the future projects.

Day 2

Gambar
Ok, now I know when to catch my ride and estimate how long does it take me to the office. I arrived still a little bit early but I want to know people first. I talked to several crew members there and join them on their "smoking" break on the back side of the office (without smoking, just drinking coffee). They are pretty laid back and super friendly, I feel like I already interning there for such a long time! The office itself is pretty homy and open, working there is very comfy, and I feel like it's a creative space and gives me chance to perform at the best level. Today I supposed to do subtitle, but they postponed it because it wasn't final yet, so I was given more transcript job. I did better, around 30-40 minutes worth of transcript, but now with breaks in between. I'm happy with this job actually, it's a good intro to journalism because I'm getting know the essence of the interview and rough cut. Feels like listening to the podcast, and just t

Day 1 : VICE

Gambar
So, I actually pretty pumped since the moment I got accepted. A night before I couldn't sleep so I ended up have such a heavy eyes morning. I drank a cup of coffee before heading to the office. The office is 20 minutes drive away from where I live, with traffic jam during rush hour that would be around 30-40 minutes. I arrived 1.5 hours earlier to make sure I'm early and ready, plus to avoid traffic jam. The office opens at 10am but people are already start working since 9am (You can come as early as you want and leave as late as you want). Technically you are allowed to leave at 6pm, but depends on the work load it's flexible, some people stay till 9pm (I stayed till 8pm that day). The first stuff I need to do is at least know each other and just get clear on what I need to do when I'm there. So Arman and Rizky explained on what I need to do and introduced me to the fellow crew. They are pretty laid back and friendly, sort of like class mates - learn from each other
